I keep forgetting to post all the fun things Emma is saying now …
* she says “night, night” to all of her toys before she goes to sleep (I started this as a way to help her realize that everyone is going to bed, and she just kept doing it — “night, night, Pooh … night, night, turtle” etc)
* Ken was giving her a bath last night while I was changing her sheets, and I sneezed a couple of times – all of the sudden, I heard “bless you, mom” from the bathroom (Ken did not prompt her, either)
* she recently started asking for hugs – “hug, mom … hug, daddy”
* she says “yuck” when she has a poopy diaper, but only while I’m changing it – I’m waiting for the day for her to come and tell me when she has a “yuck” BEFORE I smell it
* she says “bye” to whatever she’s leaving — for instance, if we’re in the store playing with a Dora doll, we put it back and then she says “bye, Dora” as we’re walking away. we hope this lasts FOREVER!
* a not-so-cute thing that has already started — “no!” very emphatically when she doesn’t want to do something
* she is really getting good about repeating things we say, so that can be either good or bad. last night, she had her UGA pajama shirt half-way on, so I said, “You look like a party animal!” and she said, “pah-tee amil”
* she answers all of the Dora/Diego questions, and she’s actually right most of the time!!
* she says “thanks” but actually says it to the right person – so when I give her something, she’ll say “thanks, mom” and then the same for Ken “thanks, daddy.” she says thanks for pretty much everything, though – when Ken puts her in her carseat, when I change her diaper, when I brush her hair – it’s so cute. we’re still working on getting her to say “thanks” to anyone who does something for her, but so far, it’s mostly me and Ken that get all of the thanks
* she says “hey” which is just the cutest thing ever – when I go to get her up, I walk in, and she says, “hey, mom.” or anytime we say “hey” to her, she’ll say it back. SO cute
* she now says “abre” (Spanish for “open) whenever she wants something open, thanks to Dora
I guess that’s enough for now – I don’t want to bore you all with the endless stories of how funny/cute/intelligent/beautiful our 19-month old child is. I’ll just leave you with this picture …
