I’m having a cup of coffee while Emma and I talk about school.
Me: Okay honey, eat your oatmeal and then we’ll get ready for school.
E: Go to school NOW!
Me: We will in a little bit – you’ve got to eat your breakfast, first. Are you ready for school?
E: Yes! Can I play with balls? And little kids?
Me: Yes, they’ll have lots of balls and blocks and books there for you to play with. And Ms. C and Ms. M will read to you.
E: Mommy leave?
Me: Yes, mommy will leave, but you’ll have so much fun playing with Beemer (her neighbor friend) and the other kids! And Ms. C and Ms. M will read to you and teach you about weather. Won’t that be fun?
E: Yes. Will be really fun!
I guess it’s a preschool, but it’s not like she’ll be learning how to write or anything like that just yet. It’s mostly playing, reading, learning about the weather, playing, doing a yoga pose (really!!), doing little crafts and playing some more. We decided to do this for her socialization skills, and also to give me a few hours a week to get some work done for SLB Development – and maybe clean the house, if I feel like it. ;)
Plus, we both think it’s good for her to learn independence – of course, I’ll miss her TONS, but she needs to learn about life away from me and Ken.
I won’t post here where she’s going to school for safety reasons, but it’s a great school with a fantastic program. And her little neighbor friend (Beemer) goes there, too – so I think that will help her adjust to being away from us.
I just can’t believe it’s here. She’s off to preschool this morning and she’ll be 2 in two weeks!
