no one wants to see THAT!

I don’t know what it is about bra shopping that I hate, but I just do.

I’ve had the same 2 bras for a couple of years, now, and they are the only ones that fit post-baby. As a matter of fact, I think I bought them right after I had Emma, because I was all, “Oooh, boobs!” And I went right out and bought 2 bras.

Now, Emma’s 26 months old, and I’m still wearing those same 2 bras. Funny thing is, I complain about them all the time b/c they don’t fit right.

The band isn’t tight enough, the cups are too big, the straps are too floppy, they’re uncomfortable, they’re ugly, ad nauseum.

How white trash is it to wear tank tops and then constantly have to shove your straps back under the tank top straps? Ugh.

So Ken’s all, “Just go get yourself some new bras!” If only it were as easy for me to buy new undergarments as it is for him.

Undergarments … tee-hee.

Here’s the deal. I have NO idea what size I am.

Having a baby moves things. Changes things. Reworks things.

And while I didn’t breastfeed for various reasons, “the girls” are still a little different.

Okay, this is the point where I realize that my brother sometimes reads my blog, and I’m a little concerned for him right now. Close down this window and pretend that you never read any of this, Big Bro. M’kay?

So. Do I Google “how to measure for bras” and hope for the best? Or do I go to one of those places that measures for you?

And if I do the latter, do I have to take my bra off in front of a stranger?

Ummm …

And if I do, then is she going to measure me and then point me to the Juniors department??

Oy vey, my armpits are sweating right now just thinking about it.

Yeah, no. Forget it. I’m not going.

I’ll just keep wearing the same two loose, floppy bras that I’ve been wearing for 2 years. And if you ever see me in public, just holler, “Hey! Stuff that bra strap back under your tank top, please! No one wants to see THAT!!”

Okay, first off, deep breath! In and out. There ya go.

I recommend going and getting measured. Not at Victoria Secret, because they tend to go for their sized bras, which in my experience have always been a little off. Nordstrom or wherever else you have around. They won’t measure you naked or anything, so you don’t have to worry about that.

She also won’t send you to juniors, no matter how small you are. More importantly, she will know how the different bras fit and be able to help you find the kind that will fit right and be comfortable.

You can do this! There is NOTHING like a great fitting bra! I cannot wait until I stop breastfeeding and are able to wear a real bra again!

I was also going to suggest Nordstrom. I went there for a bra fitting and discovered I’d been wearing the wrong bra size all my life – I went down in #s but up in cup size. Get properly fitted, it does make a difference.

Go and do it, Keli. They measure you with your clothes on and it makes all the difference in the world. I, too was wearing the wrong size. Go someplace that will order your size if they don’t have it in stock, like Belk’s.

Get thee to a professional! Bra fitting isn’t the most glamorous thing in the world, but once you’re in the right size, the world is a better place. And no, you won’t have to be completely topless.

Get thee to a Nordstrom. It will change your life, and your rack. I drive an hour and a half to get fitted at the N, and it’s totally worth it. They’ve seen everything, so don’t be nervous. They carry every size imaginable. I can’t wait until my boobs find their new normal post-breastfeeding size so I can get fitted for some bras without flaps.

I am having this problem too! I hate all my bras (I just weaned my daughter last month), and I hate bra shopping. I went to VS a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t find anything I liked. It’s awful. My major problem is also not having a clue what my current bra size is. I’ve always been shy about getting fitted too. After reading your post and the comments, I’ve finally been inspired to just go do it! I’m so sick of being uncomfortable. So to Nordstrom I go! Thanks for posting this :)

I am so having this same problem. And when I saw that Gap Body was going to be a shutter suite sponsor, I kinda freaked. Not that they’ll want us to arrive in our undergarments but… Well, maybe I’ll hit a nordstrom. Thanks to you and to all the responses.

Hey, I wanted to let you know- I went to Nordstrom yesterday to get fitted. I asked the girl if I had to take my shirt off and she said that I had to at least lift it up so she could measure correctly. What she didn’t tell me was that I’d end up taking it off later on to show her how the new bra fit anyway! So that was pointless. Anyway, I went through with it and I now have the best bra EVER. I was (of course) wearing the totally wrong size before. I really recommend that you go. If I was able to stand there with just a bra on (I’m like the shyest person in the world), then I’m sure you can too! :) It wasn’t that bad and they see it all, I’m sure.

I could marry my new bra. It’s like I’m not even wearing one, it’s that comfortable. Oh, and you should go soon because they are having an anniversary sale. I got my bra for $35 :)

Hi, this is my first time visiting here and I feel a little odd talking about your boobs, but I’m going to anyways! I heard of this great link just last night you answer a few questions and it tells you what your ideal bra is! It even tells you how much the bras are. They have a tab for Jeans too! Check it out. http://www.zafu.com/oo/zafu/shape.do Good luck!
