She literally cannot sit still for one minute.

Now you know why we need naps every day.

And why for the past 2 days, I have been banging my head against a wall while she chatters, sings, yells and anything else she possibly can to avoid taking a nap.

Yesterday, she even said, “I’m not taking a nap! Do you understand me??”

She’s only 28 months old … please tell me naps are not over.

Please?!?!?!

No way… do not give in!! Rub her back, lay with her, anything but giving up naps. Power struggle… one you can win. Sarah still naps and she is 4!! Even if its just for 20 minutes! Good luck!

Mine’s turning 2 at the end of October…I can’t even BEGIN to imagine no napping at the beginning of next year. I agree with the last comment. Don’t give in. I did with my now 5 year old and I regret it. The youngest? We’re going to take naps as long as we can. Crossing my fingers for you!

Girlfriend – hate to tell you this but all 3 of my kids gave up their naps at 2! I’m always amazed when I hear about kids who still nap at 3. What about starting “quiet time”?

They are not over – my nearly 3.5 year old went through a napping strike around Emma’s age, we worked through it, I just never let up on attempting a nap with him (I didn’t want him to think it was okay). Eventually he started napping again without the massive protest. Hang in there.

Even if she doesn’t sleep….maybe make sure she has quiet time? Even if she just reads…give YOU the break you need.

I love her shirt! And, about the naps? I’d institute quiet time instead of nap time. Maybe then she’ll just fall asleep while playing quietly. I can think happy thoughts for you, right?

Nope, naps aren’t over yet. I still make my 4 yo lay down everyday. He probably actually naps 4-5 days a week. The other days he plays quietly. Some days he’ll play for an hour or more and then I’ll check on him and he’s asleep. On days when I totally needed him to take a nap, and figured he’d resist, I would lay down with him. So just keep putting her down. :)
