story of my life

Here’s how the conversation goes …

Emma: Can I climb up on here, momma? Pleeeeease?

Me: No, Emma. It’s ice and very dangerous. You could fall.

Emma: Okay, momma.

ice dippy

I turn to around pick up a toy …

Emma: Look, momma! I’m not falling! … But I need help to get down.

And of course I told her to freeze so I could take pictures.

It was the best punishment I could think of at the time.

It’s no wonder I had to take her to the pediatrician’s office about an hour later because she tripped and face-planted into the hardwood floor and bit through her lip.

I know what you’re thinking … it’s my fault. I let her do really daredevil things like go down the slide headfirst and climb the really tall ladder at the playground without standing right there (sorry, Ken) and jump off the couch and eat shrimp and crab legs.

(Okay, so letting her eat shrimp & crab legs isn’t bad – I just think it pumps up my cool factor by about a million)

Well, you know what I have to say about that?

Talk to the hand.

No, not really. I just like that picture and wanted to use it somewhere.

But seriously? Kids will be kids, and I’m glad mine is 100% kid.

It won’t be the last injury or the last time she wants to do something “dangerous”… you are a great Mom Keli! Just look at her. You are having a hand in making her one independent little girl, one who will grow more confident every day! Keep up the good work!

Hope she’s doing better today. After my little guy broke his arm and got stitches all in the span of 7 months, all I wanted to do was put a bubble around him but you can’t do that with kids. You’re doing a great job and it shows. Look at her smile.

Oh, Keli! Sorry for poor little Emma, hate to say it but I’m sure there will be many more to come. And you’re right, 100% kid is a very good thing! Have a great weekend!

Way to go! Letting her LIVE! Not wrapping her in bubble wrap….letting her be herself.

Great photos, as always! LOVE the talk to the hand!
