Interested in learning more about photography? Want to get everything you can out of your camera? Well, I’m throwing out a challenge over here today.
It was actually a good reminder for myself since I wrote it a few weeks ago and was already getting blah about my photography this year.
Let me also just throw out a blanket apology – for not posting much here, for not posting comments on your blogs, for not being as active on Twitter.
Bottom line? I’m pooped.
Emma has been a little more clingy than usual lately, and it’s taking a lot out of me on a daily basis. I just can’t sit at the computer much without her needing me to do something with her. She’s very needy, very much bored with everything she owns.
Just today, I spent a good 10 minutes getting paints out for her to play with, spreading paper on the floor, getting a cup of rinse water and a towel for drying – and then she painted for, oh, about 4 minutes. And then I cleaned up.
Don’t get me wrong – I’m not complaining about her. Just stating the facts of our life right now. She’s two. And she wants to experiment with new things every day. And my job is to take care of her needs. And we’re dealing with it and getting through it. Eventually, we’ll get our groove back, but for now, she needs me more than I need to be online.

oh kel… it’s the same way in our house. those 2 year olds have such a short attention span. i can really relate to your tiredness too. i was on the couch for the first 3 months of my pregnancy with Ginger and i just let Maria run wild. take care of you and like my mother always told me… it’s hard making a baby. :)

Go spend time with her b/c time flies. Enjoy. I thought your challenge post was great and one of the things I did earlier this week was buy the “Photo Nuts & Bolts” ebook by Digital Photography School.

We’re glad to see you and read your words whenever you get the energy, so no apology necessary!
And thank you so much for the post at i heart faces. I shot in manual after taking my semester-long photo class, then got out of it when I was running around Disneyland and Disney World last summer, and I haven’t gotten out of program mode or aperture priority mode since. (At least I’m not in auto!). It’s inspiring me to branch out a bit!

This post was such a wonderful reminder. Although photography is the most fun thing ever…my kid has to always come first : ) You are a great mom! All Mommy’s of 2 year olds should have medals in my book!

Great post at I Heart Faces…thanks! I just got a copy of “Understanding Exposure” and can’t wait to read it. I need to get back into shooting Manual, as I’ve been falling back on Aperture Priority mode a lot. And I TOTALLY get you about having a 2 yr old and being pregnant…I was pregnant when my son was 2 also…exhausting! Now he’s 3 and baby is 1…life is a whole lot easier now, believe it or not :-)
I loved your post at I Heart Faces . . . . and by the way I seriously cannot imagine how you do it being pregnant with a 2 yr old – I am pretty sure I slept about 75% of the day when I was pregnant!

I’d been wondering where you were! I’m glad to hear that things are okay, if a bit exhausting. Focus on Emma, and don’t feel torn at all; there’s no need to apologize. Enjoy your time with her and we’ll be here whenever you have some time and space to get back. Hugs! xoxo

You’re a pianist too??? Twins….
Love your challenge post. I am challenging myself this year to refresh my knowledge and learn more more more. I’ve downloaded a gajillion photography podcasts and listen while I’m showering and getting ready in the morning. Scott Kelby’s Digital Photography series of books is awesome too…making my way through those.
And hey, kids are a huuuuuge timesuck. :D I homeschool my two boys, while I work FT, and our house is undergoing a huge renovation at the same time. I haven’t taken a picture in a week. I feel like I’ve already let myself down with my 365 goal for this year…but then I realize I need to cut myself some slack. I’m way harder on myself than anyone else is. :)
Enjoy Emma…she’ll be all grown up before you know it.
