i’ve seen it done before. i’ve done it myself. i’m wondering why in the world i’m doing it again.
but here’s to the moms out there who have ever thought I have it all together. or the moms who beat themselves up over not having it all together. or the moms who simply need a laugh while they sit in their neat and pristine homes.
let me give you a tour of our first floor …
when you walk in the front door, a pile of laundry that was thrown over from upstairs – 2 days ago
dining room – no dining in there anytime soon
playroom / office – in my defense, her playroom looks like this about 2.5 minutes after we clean everything up.
half of our kitchen – the other side is actually clean’ish (yes, really!!)
the chair that no one can sit in – at least most of it’s folded?
the view from my nursing / cuddling / holding / burping / cooing spot – Lord have mercy
i will spare you the 2nd floor. you’re welcome.
the moral of this story is … if you truly have it all together, good for you. i will try not to punch you in the face if i pass you on the street.
all photos taken with my new samsung galaxy s phone (looooooooove it!!)

I want to hug you. Mine looks the same and it makes me feel so much better knowing that I’m not the only one! We have a laundry basket sitting on a chair that we just keep dumping stuff in. Pretty much nothing has been picked up since Timmy was born. Our kitchen table is covered, the kitchen counters are covered. It looks like crazy people live here.

This just made my whole day:) I’m kind of just impressed by all of that folded laundry on the chair! And the fact that you posted on your blog! I’m so with you today. And I even had all of the motivation in the world to actually accomplish things for once in my life. Sometimes I just stop and look around and realize that I have done nothing but pick up all.day.long and they(and I) are still faster and more efficient at making messes than cleaning them up. I just took a ton of laundry upstairs just so that I don’t have to keep looking at it, and that basically means that it’s going to be sitting in baskets in our bedroom for the next two weeks;) Big hugs mama! If I lived near you, I’d totally bring you some muffins and coffee!

My house with three kids looks like this most of the time. I try and maintain some level of decency, but it rarely happens. Thank you for being honest!

I love it! And THANK YOU!! I think we all live like this but secretly think that no one else does so we all pretend that we’re better :)
You should see my house too :)
Ha ha! That is so true!!! I always scramble to clean up before people come over. My house is a WRECK!

Thanks for keeping it real. I have to laugh b/c my house looks like that and I don’t have a newborn or a preschooler ;) What’s my excuse? I’d love to have that cooing spot – I can just imagine how snuggly (is that a word?) Lucy is.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I LOVE LOVE LOVE u! I think that everyday I wonder how do all these Mama’s do it, work, clean, play, eat, excercise, projects, photography and still have a immaculate houses~ I am a self proclaimed Neat Freak and my fiance would say I need treatment however you have just made me feel so okay about my home, my chores, my not so perfectly put together home that is more of a ode to “living” just in the moment vs. the planning, organizing, sweeping and charting my life away kind of moment that I get caught up in.
Thank u from the bottom of my heart for reminding me that I can let it all just sit for a few days, no one is gonna die and take that time to spend with my 16 month old who loves to mess it up every second anyway.
I love your honesty because there are so many times I feel like my house is the only house that is a complete wreck. Thank you for making me feel less bad about my mad housekeeping skillz. ;)
I just have one question. Fasten your seat belt because it is a big one…
Will you still love me if you know that my flippin’ house looks like that and there is NO baby!
: ( I try and try and it only stays nice for like ten minutes.
Call your Mama. Whenever mine comes over she just sort of takes over and ships it back to shape. And I ADORE her.

Mine looks the same! And I have two kids in school all day. I really have no excuse except to say that I only clean when I know I’m having guests over :) Why shovel during a snowstorm?

Kitchen is the best.
I’m so happy looking this pictures. I feel better, ha ha ha.
I know what is that. I alway looked pictures so perfect and I feel so bad about my home.
2 day ago I beat my own record. My husband gave them to children less popcorn and throw them all in the room, but he was pulling a handful like roses in a wedding. Almost attack me because, besides things had already scattered across the floor, toys, puzzles (I’ve discovered that I hate)

Thank you for being so honest! Now I don’t feel so badly about the junk on my kitchen counter, the clothes all over my bedroom floor, and the toys strewn about on the living room floor! I figure, the most important thing is that my kids are happy and loved, not living in a perfectly clean house. Right? RIGHT??? :)
i love this.
honestly, i WISH so much that my home could look like this more often. i long to just PILE.
but, our livelihood is based on our home being presentable at all times. i usually have one dumping
spot that gets out of control, but otherwise we have to have it show ready. all.the.time.
you home looks perfect.
You took all of those with a phone?? Sweet!
I like how you’re keepin’ in real here girl. Makes me feel better about the circus over here… ;)

Hey look, I can see your floor…which means you’ve already got one up on me! And your laundry is folded, instead of tossed right out of the dryer and shoved into a basket and ignored. That’s two on me! Maybe I should punch you in the face, huh? ;)

Oh, I am so glad you shared this! I am taking a “break,” checking in on the computer as I look at the clean & folded laundry in the basket from last week that is still waiting the go upstairs, the clean laundry that I folded this morning that is still on my coffee table and chair, and the dirty pile that I threw down this morning, not to mention the glimpse of the dirty dishes in the kitchen sink. It is wonderful to know that we are not alone in our battles with keeping a tidy house.
Sigh. I only wish mine was that clean. Thanks for sharing :)

LOVE this exposé! ;)
You see, you’re not alone! We ALL have times when a clean house just can’t be the priority. LOL @ sparing us the upstairs! You need to have a cleaning party! invite potential babysitters over, and tell them whoever get the most picked up can have the job!
Thanks for stopping by for coffee! :)
Pretty much my house looks the same so no punching me!

Thank you for posting this. I love to craft and sew and take pictures and sometimes I just feel like a failure of a wife because the house is in constant disarray.. Of course it doesn’t help having a toddler follow you around and pull out what you put away. I’m so there with you.. it’s good to know I’m not alone!
oh…i hear ya! so true for most all of us whether we admit it or not.
and especially with very young kids in the house – i can’t imagine it any other way!
you are definitely not alone! :) love your honesty….xo
