in crafts,pinterest challenge

Okay, I wish I could say that I LOVE Pinterest … but I get overwhelmed whenever I actually go TO the site. But I do like it for the bookmarking function – when I find something I like, or a tutorial, or a paint color, or a super cute pair of curtains that I decided I MUST have for Lucy’s nursery since Ken would kill me if I put them in our master bedroom, then I like the option of “pinning” it for future reference.

See? Cute Curtains for the Cute Baby Nursery That is Still Not Decorated.

[oh yeah, this is me on Pinterest. holla!]

Anyway, I decided to use Pinterest for good. I’ve saved a bajillion tutorials and ideas and crafts and shops, and I want to actually DO something with them.

I made this skirt out of an old t-shirt I bought at Goodwill using a tutorial I saved on Pinterest …

emma-faces

Okay, confession … Emma originally had it on backwards.

image 1 – me: “Emma, I think your skirt is on backwards.”

image 2 – Emma: “Really? Where?”

image 3 – Emma: “Oh yeah!! hahahahaha!”

emma-skirt-backwards

Anyway, I am getting off course … I have decided to challenge myself to do or make or buy something off of my Pinterest boards once a week. That won’t be too hard, right?

I mean, this? Lucy would love.

And this? Emma would squeal.

And for me? A photo challenge for my October 365, perhaps?

So I’m putting it out there. Once a week, I have to post something I’ve done or made from items I’ve saved on Pinterest. And we’ll see how it goes. You guys have to hold me accountable, m’kay?

I think I’ll start with … these pants for Emma. Dude, it was cold this morning, and my girl’s brand new pair of jeans are about 1/2” too short. WHY must kids GROW!?!?!?

Are you on Pinterest? [add me!] Are you interested in joining a weekly Pinterest challenge?

What are some of your favorite tutorials??

Thank you for sharing!

1. my sewing machine is buried in the basement. But, when it gets dug out maybe I’m in.

2. add ruffles to the bottoms of Emma’s jeans. You know she will love it.

I am going to steal that October list of photo idea though. LOVE that!

Yes! This! I keep finding and pinning all these wonderful things that are SO! INSPIRING! And then all they do is sit there and never become reality. And then, the things I have managed to do, inspired by pins, just get overlooked as more and more THINGS keep piling up.

This idea definitely needs a link-up or something :-)

This makes me want to sign up for Pinterest and learn to sew. I can hand sew, but don’t have a machine. I’d be up for doing a challenge every now and then! Fun idea, Keli!

Are you crazy – a pinterest project once a week….I clearly need to start pinning less involved projects before I follow along. Love the idea though. I especially love how I can organize all the ideas (and easily change them around) – so much more tidy than that folder of magazine clippings that is over flowing. You were practically hiding on pinterest with that photo….just started following your boards. Here’s me: http://pinterest.com/karinaminteer/

ooh one per week? That might be a toughie! But maybe one or two a month. I started a challenge for myself with all the recipes I’ve printed out (via Pinterest and the way-too-many food blogs I follow) I’ve been trying to make at least 1 new thing each week. And if we go to a party or something, I try to make something new as well (usually pretty ‘safe’ stuff- appetizers or desserts!) So far it’s going pretty well and I’ve found some really yummy new things!

I have been doing some stuff from Pinterest too- just sloooowly. A few things for Audrey’s party this weekend (actually just posted about it last night! so funny that now I read this post this morning! [also: can you tell I'm a million years behind on my blog reading? gah]) and the window seat I did in our office, which I still need to post about.

I agree though- Pinterest is great but HOLY OVERWHELMING and feeling LAZY when I see the stuff other people do. WHEN DO THEY SLEEEEEP???!! :)
