Is the 85mm the next step as far as lenses? I have my kit lens and I got a nifty 50 for Christmas a year ago. I love it, but sometimes it bothers me that it is a prime lens. So basically what would be the best replacement lens for my crappy kit lens??

3 keli January 23, 2013 at 9:51 am: I’ll be completely honest with you – I don’t like my 85mm other than the sharpness of it. But it doesn’t work for my “style” of photography AT ALL. The 24-70mm is a great lens, but that is the only zoom lens I’ve ever used, so I can’t really recommend anything else.
