about
Hi!
I am known as Keli or Kiki to everyone that I didn’t give birth to, and I am Mommy to two wonderful dogs and the most beautiful girl in the whole wide world. She really is. Don’t even argue with us … you won’t win.
My husband is Ken, and he is pretty fantastic. We never agree on anything, we’re pretty much as opposite as you can get, we argue over things like which way the silverware goes into the dishwasher (duh! the dirty part sticks up!) – but somehow, it just works. We’ve been together for almost 7 years, married for close to 3 of those years. During the day, he works as a computer programmer and part-time college professor. And yes, he makes me call him Professor.
Our daughter is Emma Grace, and she is the air that we breathe every day. She’s smart, funny, and cute as can be. She loves animals – I think she knows just about every animal sound that we have figured out how to make. She is a little 27-lb ball of energy who talks and plays and climbs and eats nonstop. Everything about her is pretty amazing. You’ll see.
Our two dogs are Jessie, who is 12′ish years old, and Macey, who is 8 years old. They are both a conglomerate of many dogs, and they are the best pets anyone could ask for. Well-behaved, loyal, and unbelievably sweet to Emma who terrorizes them beyond belief. Okay, they sometimes dig up plants and pull things off the kitchen counters, but that’s IT.
Ken and I have our own business – SLB Development – a website design and hosting company. That keeps us busy enough, but we tend to have our fingers in many other pies, as well.
We try to live a life that would be pleasing to our planet – so we are very eco-friendly. We use cloth diapers on Emma, we compost, grow our own veggies, recycle everything we can, conserve water and electricity, and typically do what we can to live “green” and also be somewhat self-sustaining. In that vein, we have started A Time to Be Green, which is an interactive message board that focuses on living green so that we can learn from others who have been doing this longer than we have.
In our spare time, we like to take Emma to see various things in our community like the library, the Zoo and local farms; we also enjoy hiking, biking and running around the backyard like a bunch of crazy people.
Other than that, I sit around and eat bon-bons and watch soap operas all day. Don’t all stay-at-home-moms?
The title of this blog – Kidnapped by Suburbia – came from the fact that I grew up in the country. In the middle of nowhere. And I loved it so much!! But now, I live in a subdivision where all the houses look similar, and we have block parties and a neighborhood pool and playground. It’s so different than how I grew up, but I’ve adjusted and love it. Well, now that we have a fenced-in back yard.
Thank you for visiting our little corner of this great big living room also know as the internet – I hope you enjoy the sights.
You can also find me here …
twitter – because I talk. A lot.
flickr – because I only post 1/10th of the pictures I take every day
photo blog – because I take pictures of things other than emma.
Also, I went through my personal Flickr acct and made a lot of images private and also deleted some of the more personal pictures of Emma. If you see broken links or images, that’s why. Sorry for any confusion!
Peace!
