cloth diapering

It was a little chilly this morning, and even though Emma has the sniffles and a cough, she insisted on going outside. So I bundled her up in some new longies and a matching tee from my friend Robyn, and it is such a beautiful outfit — I’m so excited for fall!!

We had a very busy weekend, and our little miss has been sick. Nothing serious, and I think it’s related to more teething – it has not been fun for anyone.

I’ll get more cloth diapering 101 installments written up and posted this week — I hope to cover accessories and washing next. And trust me, we’ve gotten a lot of practice with rash/barrier creams and washing diapers this weekend.

So Mommy tells me that you got a new Blackberry phone but that you don’t know how to use it.

WHAT?

C’mon, man.

I can’t believe you can’t figure it out.

Even Jessie the dog can use it

I’m so embarrassed for you, I have to hide under this bucket.

Well, if you need help figuring it out, just shoot me a message – here’s my e-info.

Love you,
Emma

Well, our washer broke. I don’t know if it’s dead or just sick, but either way, it doesn’t work. Normally, this wouldn’t be a big deal because we have plenty of clothes to last us.

But I had 4 days of diapers to wash. And believe you me, when you don’t wash diapers, it’s RANK. So I loaded up Emma this morning and off we went.

diapers in the bird bag, one load of regular clothes in the blue bag

E did great!! She basically had her morning snack while everything was washing.

She takes after her Pappa Johnson – she loves potato skins!

Watching the clothes in the dryer was her favorite part …

While it was actually a very clean laundromat, let’s hope we can get our washer fixed STAT.

In lieu of Earth Day, I thought I’d post about some of the things we’re doing to help the environment. Cloth diapering is something that I started researching on a whim, and now I’m totally invested. It’s not only better for the environment, it’s better for Emma’s skin, it’s better for the pocketbook, and it’s really really cute.

This weekend, we took the old school part of cloth diapering one step farther by installing a clothesline to hang them.

I love the smell of fresh laundry from the line. And the act of hanging it out is so therapeutic. You can take the girl out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl. :)
