Taking a break from the Orlando recap … and trying out this whole storyboard / blog template thing.

The chalk storyboard (first image) is from here, and then I added rounded corners. The others are ones I created myself. Fun!

I am still working on the q&a from this post, so I should have that up sometime tomorrow or this weekend at the latest. There are a couple of questions that have actually been asked since then that I’ll also answer for you (kid-sized headphones and photo processing). I’m not ignoring you guys … pinky swear!

For once in my life, I actually have too many posts to write.

We are on vacation, so this week is all about our life

… our daily

sometimes boring

sometimes exciting

always full of love

life.

We live for evenings in the summer … the sun’s going down, we don’t sweat out gallons of liquid the second we walk out the door, the light is magic, and the neighborhood is filled with sounds of children playing outside.

Popsicles are always on the menu.

Did I mention that the light is magic?

Seriously. Magic.

We also have riding – either a scooter or a tricycle.

This particular night was a tricycle kind of night.

And sometimes, if all the stars are aligned, there is some dog hugging.

Followed by jumping on her back and trying to ride her.

Macey moves.

Emma falls down.

Crying ensues.

Aaaaaand then it’s bedtime.

But that forty-five minutes outside before then?

Heaven.

Our weekends are sometimes filled with visiting playgrounds. I know, it’s weird … but it’s free, and Emma gets bored doing the same things over and over – so if a new playground will keep her busy for an hour, we’re happy.

Ken remembered a playground we found while randomly driving around one day last year, so we headed over that way.

It’s a nice playground, padded “floor,” lots of different things to do. But it’s right next to a waterpark. A waterpark that isn’t in operation in the morning. A waterpark that dumps into this reservoir that is full of stale, green water. Stale, green water that houses bugs. Lots and lots of bugs.

Let’s just say we all got our daily protein that morning. *cough, sputter, choke*

As you can see, sometimes she plays while I walk around and take pictures of other things. Some days, she is in the mood to have her picture taken while other days, she won’t stop moving. Okay, most days, she won’t stop moving.

At this very minute, she is “playing the drums” using large wooden knitting needles (that have never actually been used for knitting) and one of our lampshades in the living room.

Some battles just aren’t worth it.

Anyway, later that day, she asked if we could go back to “the bug playground,” and Ken and I both answered with a hearty, “NO!”

Emma’s been begging to go to this large playground located at our local soccer fields, but I’ve been dragging my feet, because there isn’t any shade around. We finally took her one evening around 6:30pm, and it was perfect.

The best thing about the “we” taking her was that I could sit and watch. Emma is constantly on the move, and she finds herself in precarious positions more often than not. It was nice to pass the {constant chasing and watching and catching and pulling off of very high obstacles} off to Ken so I could relax.

She also mastered the tall climbing wall, which was interesting since she completely flipped out on the small one. Go figure.

I have a feeling this evening playground visit will become a regular activity for us … after all, once I find a location with that good magic light, I’m hooked on it.

our life {bathtime}

June 27, 2010

in emma,our life

I don’t know if I’ll actually turn this {our life} into a series, but I would like to consciously try to capture more of our real life. Our daily ebbs and flows. The stuff we do without dressing up or putting on makeup or brushing our hair.

This is a series of images I took WAY back in January but never edited or uploaded. I tend to only upload one or two images a day onto my Flickr account, so there are tons of pictures that never get attention. I feel really bad about that, especially since there are family functions, holidays, and fun excursions that no one ever sees. So I may try to input those into my blog over the next few weeks and then try to keep up with it.

We all know things are going to change come Sept/Oct, so I might as well make the best of my “free time” now, right?

If some of you are wondering what in the world all that gobbledygook is below each picture lately, I’ve been inspired by Beth to post my camera data for when I shoot in manual mode (which is pretty much 100% of the time, now). Honestly, going through images on Flickr and looking at their EXIF data was one of the ways I learned how to shoot in manual. So I’m trying to remember to include my data as much as possible for those of you who are curious or still learning.
